Prof. Virginia HARPER HO
Professor of Law

Virginia Harper Ho is a Professor of Law at City University of Hong Kong School of Law where she teaches courses in company law, M&A, and corporate finance. Her primary research interests are corporate law and governance, securities regulation, sustainability, and corporate finance from a comparative perspective. She has written recently on ESG disclosure reform, comparative corporate governance, and China’s green finance reforms, and has contributed to ESG reform initiatives of the of the Singapore Stock Exchange, the Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil (Comissão de Valores Mobiliários), and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Prior to joining CityU, she was the Associate Dean for International & Comparative Law Programs at the University of Kansas School of Law (USA).

Professor Harper Ho serves on the Executive Committee of the American Society of Comparative Law (ASCL) and is a Research Member of the European Corporate Governance Institute (ECGI).  She is also an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Comparative Law. She has previously served as a Research Fellow of the International Institute of Green Finance (IIGF) at the Central University of Finance and Economics (CUFE) in Beijing and as a visiting scholar at Zhejiang University and Sun Yat-Sen University. Prior to entering academia, Harper Ho practiced corporate and securities law and advised U.S. and foreign multinationals on cross-border transactions with a focus on Asia.

She holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a B.A. and M.A. from Indiana University-Bloomington (USA). She is fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese.
