Course Outlines 課程大綱:

Board directors are held accountable for ESG and climate-related risks that impact the company. HKEX Listing Rules already require qualitative disclosures in climate impact, and further disclosures according to the TCFD framework by 2025 is almost certain. The speakers, an  investor and a leading corporate in sustainability  will share insights on developments and trends. This program aims to raise competency of board members and senior management in climate and ESG, providing cases and information to build best practices.

Agnes is Director of Great Glory Investment Corporation and Chief EC.ESG Investment Strategist of BlueOnion.  She holds a Climate Designation certificate from Competent Boards, a Sustainability and Climate Risk certificate and a Financial Risk Manager certificate from Global Association of Risk Professionals, an ESG Investing certificate from CFA UK, and a CAIA certificate from Chartered Alternative Investment Association. Her board training in sustainability, governance, strategy and risk oversight spans five continents.

She is a Steering Committee member of Climate Governance Initiative Hong Kong Chapter, an Expert Review Panel member for the MTR Corporation sustainability reports since 2014, Advisory Board member of Asia Climate Forum, an ESG/climate judge for WealthAsia (Benchmark) Funds of the Year Awards, a Council member, Publishing Board of Magazine member and a Deputy Chair of the training committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Directors, faculty of Competent Boards, CSIA and FITC, board member of Hope of the City, advisory council/committee member of GARP (HK), BlueOnion, FarmacyHK and Shao Ming Lo Foundation. She has served the financial community across four jurisdictions in the past 43 years.

She has a PhD (2022) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology with dissertation titled “Do carbon risks matter for Hong Kong equity prices?”, an MBA (1980) from the University of Chicago – Booth School of Business, a BSc (Honors, 1978) from Roosevelt University in USA and is a graduate of the Stanford University Senior Executive Leadership Program and the 2011 Stanford Directors’ College. She has authored a book on investing in H-shares, a Harvard Business case, a chapter in CFA Society Hong Kong’s 30th anniversary book ‘Rise from Crises’, and a book ‘Tall Miracles’.

Mr Patrick Ho
Deputy Head, Sustainable Development at Swire Properties

Patrick Ho, Swire Properties’ Deputy Head, Sustainable Development, is responsible for formulating and executing a corporate sustainability strategy for the Company’s global operations across Hong Kong, Chinese Mainland and U.S.A. portfolios. Through engaging stakeholders, setting targets and developing action plans, he leads a team to manage the full spectrum of the Company’s environmental, social and economic impact and to integrate ESG considerations into every facet of Swire Properties’ business.

In his role, Patrick works with senior leaders to establish the 1.5°C Science-Based Targets (SBT) to align with the pathway of limiting global warming to 1.5°C, and to reach net-zero emissions by 2050. He also worked on developing the Green Finance Framework for Swire Properties’ first US$500 million green bond and HK$500 million sustainability-linked loan, responding to emerging areas of sustainability such as nature-related risk management aligned with TNFD, Climate-related Financial Disclosures aligned with TCFD, whole lifecycle & embodied carbon emissions analysis for new development projects, and a strategic assessment of the climate-related physical and transition risks and opportunities under various future climate scenarios. In addition, he leads the team for the planning and execution of Swire Properties’ SD tenant engagement strategy and bespoke tenant programmes, such as the Green Performance Pledge and Green Kitchen Initiative, a well as supplier ESG assessment and engagement programmes.

Patrick also led Swire Properties maintains its top listings on several global and regional sustainability indices and ratings, including the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (ranked 4th globally, 1st in Asia in 2022), Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB, Global Sector Leader in Mixed Use Developments for 6th consecutive year), MSCI ESG Ratings (highest “AAA” for 6th consecutive year) and Hang Seng Corporate Sustainability Index (No. 1 in Hong Kong for 5th consecutive year, highest “AAA” rating).

Patrick is a Chartered Environmentalist, a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) and a Certified Carbon Auditor Professional. He is a Member of the Corporate Advisory Board of World Green Building Council, Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) Expert Advisory Group for Building Sector, and a Steering Committee Member of Climate Change Business Forum of the Business Environment Council.
